Wiped Out

cartwipeThose of you using those free antiseptic wipes from dispensers outside grocery stores so that you will not expose yourself to cooties when you get your carts, please cut it the hell out. All you are doing is confirming to the rest of the world that America is a paranoid, germophobic, xenophobic culture.

More important, you’re helping to quickly breed even more drug-resistant bacteria, and helping to create less germ-resistant human beings. So with every little wipe you are a traitor to your race, and I hate you.

  1. If you knew how many people don’t wash their hands after using the restroom, you would change your mind.

  2. So we should have these at the entrances to bars and restaurants, then? I notice no one who uses them has any problems handling the money they get back from cashiers, far more germ-ridden than a shopping-cart handle.

The facts are as true even factoring in restroom usage: coddling a culture from germs makes the germs opportunistic.

  3. Amen to that Steve, I know that as I kid, while I wasn’t as fastidious as some…I would wash my hands when I got home…or before I ate…but, come-on my mom (an RN) would have laughed herself sick back in the day over this. I totally agree, we coddle our kids, and they get sicker and sicker with each thing they come down with. I’ve seen some of those kids out there that the mom has the wipes for everytime he touches something on the play ground, and every snack is double wrapped to “just make sure”

  4. My mom goes to the dr. and wants antibiotics every time she has something viral, and the dr. gives them to her. Argh! Just cannot get it through her head that she’s just making the virus stronger by doing that and it’s not helping her a bit!
